Pashtun Qaumi Jirga: A Call for Justice and Freedom, 11Oct !

On October 11, 2024, the Pashtun Qaumi Jirga is set to take place in Khyber District, organized by the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM), a movement fighting for the rights and dignity of the Pashtun people. Led by Manzoor Pashteen and Ali Wazir, the PTM has long been a voice against the injustices and brutalities faced by Pashtuns under the pretext of counter-terrorism.

For years, the Pashtun people have suffered due to military operations in their homeland, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Pakistani military and political establishment have used terrorism as an excuse to oppress the region, killing innocent civilians, kidnapping leaders, and arresting anyone who dares to speak out. This Jirga is a demand to end these atrocities and remove the military from internal matters in Pashtun areas.

✓ The Call for Justice

Pashtuns are calling for justice and the right to live freely in their own province. The people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have endured years of violence, with many of their leaders, including Ali Wazir, being unjustly arrested or threatened. Innocent citizens have been killed in the name of counter-terrorism, while others have disappeared without a trace. The military’s grip on the region has only led to more instability, and the people demand that the army withdraw from their internal affairs.

This Jirga is about reclaiming the Pashtun identity, free from fear and oppression. It is a plea for the freedom of their province, for an end to the military’s intervention, and for accountability for the lives lost and the people kidnapped. The Pashtun people are tired of being labeled as terrorists in their own land, and they seek to rebuild their homeland without the constant threat of violence from the establishment.

✓ The Role of the PTM

Manzoor Pashteen and Ali Wazir have led the PTM with courage, despite being targeted by the state. The PTM has shed light on the sufferings of Pashtuns and has consistently called for the removal of landmines, an end to extrajudicial killings, and the return of missing persons. Their fight is not just against the military but also against a political system that has failed to protect the rights of the Pashtun people.

The Jirga will bring together tribal elders, activists, and community leaders to unite in their demands for justice. It represents a collective cry for peace and the end of years of oppression. The people want to see a Khyber Pakhtunkhwa where they are not treated as second-class citizens, and where the army does not rule over their lives.

✓ A Future of Peace

The Pashtun Qaumi Jirga is a powerful symbol of the struggle for freedom and justice. The Pashtun people deserve to live without fear of violence, without the interference of the military, and without being used as pawns in political games. Their fight is not just for themselves but for future generations who deserve to live in peace and dignity.

This Jirga is more than just a gathering; it is a demand for a better future for the Pashtun people, free from the control of the military and political establishment. It is a call for the world to recognize their struggle and to support their right to live without fear.

In the end, the Pashtun people want one thing: freedom. Freedom from violence, from injustice, and from the oppression they have faced for too long. And this Jirga is a step towards that dream of peace and justice for all.
